I just finished the most amazing book, Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht. Aliza is a major PR pro. She has executed PR for DKNY for many years and was the adorable voice behind the Twitter account DKNY PR Girl. Leave Your Mark is full of ideas, lessons and PR tips. I would recommend this book to someone considering making Public Relations a career and for any PR girl. Totally, an easy read! Favorite Takeaways from the book – Keep files on everything. I have created a quick outline of the expectations for fashion writers and boutiques when working together. This relationship is a fabulous one and you want to make sure both sides benefit. What the boutique wants. – Exposure. What the writer wants. – Content and Fashion Knowledge. A publicist’s job is to make the connection. Match boutiques with writers that would be interested in their brand. A writer or editor’s contacts are always open to a publicist’s recommendations. What a month! June was amazing. Between traveling, time with the girls and gallavanting in fabulous outfits I have been super busy. The grind of PR never stops. I had a super sucessful event on Friday night at Lynn Lousia in Georgetown. The sucess of the event was due to a ton of preparation but more importantly to all of the people that support me. So, with that being said here are a few PR tips that will always yeild results. Be kind. Say thank you over and over again and mean it! Follow up with all attendess as soon as you can. Hopefully, within 24 hours. Make your events a place for like minds to meet. Example – Fashion lovers meet Fashion writers. Try these tips out and let me know how things go!
